Kay is a Woodworker and Ceramicist transplanted from PDX, OR to BK, NY. Learning at an early age most of the textile crafts (sewing, knitting, crochet, needlpoint, weaving) while also assisting her Grandfather around his shop (dubbed the ‘eye-sore'), Kay developed an insatiable need to figure out how something was made, and then build it. Never one for an army of adornment, Kay wants to bring beauty and mindfulness back to the simple tasks we do and use every day. The idea being that when an object has been made to serve its purpose (a cup, a desk, a chair), it changes our awareness of the moment we are in. We have a greater appreciation for the task we are doing; the mundane suddenly lifted into a conscientious presence. Each piece that is designed and produced is imbued with this thought in mind.
